    Welcome!

Welcome to the blog for The Fabulous Coaching Company.  I'm Claire Chapman & I coach people to be more successful at the work they do.  For some people that will mean coaching them to improve their performance at work, for some to change work so that they do something they love, for a specific group of people I work with, coaches, it's about finding the time and space to coach & train as a coach successfully & keep your own motivation high so you've got the energy to coach others.

Here on the blog I share ideas, tips and musings on the world of work & success. Sometimes it is an article I have seen elsewhere, sometimes it is something that seems relevant from the top of my mind, and other times it's sharing great resources I've used.  I hope you find it all useful - do share how you've used the site in your own life!

    Flexible working

Personnel Today  reports that most employers now allow flexible working although in many places it's not a formal policy, hence the government thinking we are further behind than we are.

Good news for all out there who want to be able to love the work they do and explore other elements of their life, their way!

    Grace, Love and the workplace

Grace and Love in the workplace?  Do they go?

    http://159.54.226.83/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070415/OPINION/70415001/1049

This article focuses on why working with love and meaning in the job that you do will make more of a difference to you than trying to keep your home and your work life on opposing sides of the pillar.  I actually really resonated with what the author writes here, and it's so true that what you put in is what you get out.  Even if you start with going into work today with a different attitude, an attitude of readiness and enthusiasm, how much difference would that make?

    Ill or a sickie?

I was interested to read this post on the BBC website today http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/6539877.stm about how UK bosses, according to research done by the CBI, thinks that 1 in 8 of all absenses are down to faked illnesses.  I guess it's interesting on where you are as a reader to what you think about this story, especially when it is focusing on increased Monday and Friday absense.

    Ever get that feeling?

I've had a few of these recently, and I try to deal with them by focusing on the positive, going for whats true for me and hoping that will be enough to take me through.

    Comic Relief does The Apprentice

Not sure about you but I love The Apprentice, and it was SO interesting this evening watching all the celebrities raising money for the Fame Academy.  What I really found interesting was the fact that

    - there were some elements that they were really great at - like getting out and networking with the people they knew to make the most of that asset in working with comic relief to make a huge amount of money

    - and there were some parts that they really struggled with - the boys, doing the "bread and butter" elements - such as organising, sorting things out and admin - getting in Tim from the last series to "do the legwork" as they put it!

Women facing discrimination in the workplace...

I saw this on the BBC website news and wanted to share it with you - the link to the full article is here

In brief, the article talks about a survey that the Equalities review has run, and how if you are a woman with a child and a partner you are much less likely to be in work than your male equivalent.  It also has the link to the full report, which makes 10 recommendations about how to progress from this issue.

    Do you have the skills?

According to this link I found today from the BBC, it seems that there are many of us who don't - at least not in employers eyes!

    How can you reduce stress?

I had to smile to myself today as I was travelling home on the bus reading the daily mail.

There was a great article there about a piece of scientific research about 6 actions we can take, or things we should do, to help reduce our stress in the workplace.
