Todays Follow Friday

Today I thought I'd start the recommendation made by @nikkipilkington
to take follow friday off twitter and onto my blog.

So, what is follow friday?

Some of you may not be on twitter and may not know what I am even talking about!

In a nutshell, once a week on a Friday, people use the tag #ff, or #followfriday, or even in the uk, #ukff to say who they are following, that they recommend that others follow.  Some people just choose to leave a big list of people - the best way is to give a context for why people would like to follow them.

And the next step on is to pop it on your blog where you can reference in a little more detail!  So, who are my follow friday recommendations?

Life Coaches on twitter: A tale of two halves

I've discovered coaching on twitter really is like a tale of two very different halves.  Or actually, and more realistically, it's a tale of three thirds!

I've found this out by following the term life coach on my twitter search, and it just amazes me the difference in opinion and content which comes up.

On the one hand, you have coaches themselves and the people who know about coaching and are advocates of it.   These are positive mentions, mentions of coaching work, and even more beneficially for coaches out there, real life testimonials/ references to peoples coach and the difference that they are making to them.

The Evolution of Peer Coaching - Learning from school practice

Interesting reading this article by Beverly Showers and Bruce Joyce on The Evolution of Peer Coaching from 2005 that I came across today.

Showers and Joyce have been working on how peer coaching programs can enhance the implementation of learning when educators attend training programs.

Maybe tomorrow....

I was working with my own coach today, and one thing I was reflecting on was the importance of the bigger picture, balanced with the small details of life.

We started with the idea that I wanted to work on a plan til the end of this year, until I remembered an idea that Judith Morgan and Marion Ryan had shared with me in a workshop.

Get a piece of paper, and draw a grid on it so you have 5 across and 6 down,  then write in every square, from this year until you get to 30 years from today in the last square.  Wow!  You just created a grid which shows your life!

Adding value, all the time

One of the people I always make time to read is chris brogan because I find he always adds value when he posts.

This post on 19 presence management chores you could do every day  is a fabulous example.  It's to the point, focused and gives you tips on how to stay focused on social media - something I know many people are worried about given the fact it's easy to get swept up with what is happening out there!  Even more for us coaches, we're just so curious about what is happening with people!

It also made me think on this specific situation, about how presence management as a coach is more than just presence management in relation to being doing tasks relating to social media.

Presence is a powerful word.
